Natural herbs/ingredients used in hair care and skin care productsHerbs have been used for centuries across many cultures to treat various ailments and to maintain a healthy body. The medicinal benefits of herbs have been well documented throughout the centuries, especially in China. Western countries are beginning to realize the benefits of herbal therapies and are adopting herbal therapies as effective alternative medicine practices. Compared to synthetic drugs, herbs are natural, effective, and gentle when used properly. The benefits of herbs may include the following:

The following herbal extracts are used in the Total Lauat Care herbal hair care system as well as the Dermalise natural facial skin care and body care products offered by Elantree. Some of these herbs have been traditionally proven to reduce hair loss and stimulate hair growth.
Akapulco (Cassia Alata)
The leaves contain chrysophanic acid, because of its anti-fungal properties, it is a common ingredient use in soaps, shampoos, and lotions in the Philippine.
Aloe Vera (Aloe barbadensis)
Contain "aloin" used for medicinal and cosmetic purposes. Its clear gel is remarkably effective healer of wounds as it speeds up the healing and reduces the risk of infection. In cosmetics, Aloe Vera helps the skin replenish lost moisture, keeping it hydrated and smooth. It also contains vitamin A, C, E, B12 and other minerals that beneficial to skin moisturizing and toning. It is also known for soothing, cooling, and its anti-irritant property.
Cinnamomum Comphora
Anti-fatugue, free radical cleanse, improves blood circulation.
Eucalyptus
The eucalyptus leaf extract has very powerful antiseptic, deodorizing, and antibacterial and antiviral properties. When applied externally on the body, it stimulates blood flow, relieves joints and muscles pain.
Grapefruit (Citrus paradisi)
Grapefruit extract believed to be a strong antimicrobial with proven activity aginst bacteria and fungi. Grapefurit peel oil is also used as aromotherapy oil. Grapefruit seed extract contains antioxidant properties.
Gugo (Entada phaseoloides)
A very large, woody climber. It increases micro-circulation of blood in the scalp with anti-fungal & anti-bacterial properties.
Kaffir lime (Citrus hystrix)
It is popular ingredient in herbal compress (for massage). The oil is used in aromatherapy. Kaffir lime peel powder is used as natural scrub bead. The fruit also used in hair care products for making hair soft and silky.
Kalamansi (Citrus Microcarpa)
Kalamansi is a small citrus fruit that appears as cross between a lemon and lime. The juice of Kalamansi is known as a refrigerant, a remedy for coughs and for itches, a deodorant, and an antiphlogistic (reducing inflammation or fever; anti-inflammatory).
Lawat Leaf (Litsea glutinosa)
Lawat leaf extracts are traditionally used in the Philippines in preventing hair loss, promoting hair growth and relieving itchiness and skin inflammations.
Lemon grass (Cymbopogon citratus)
Lemon grass is principally taken as a tea to remedy digestive problems dirarrhea and stomach ache. It relaxes the muscles of stomach and gut, relieves cramping pains and flatulence. As a medicinal herb, it was traditionally used to cure skin complaints and headaches, and was burnt to kill germs and repel insects. Its used in Tha herbal compress for its soothing, invigorating and antiseptic property.
Papaya (Carica Papaya)
It contains the proteolytic enzyme papain. The flowers contain pectoral properties. The fruit is used in cosmetics for healthy skin complexion. The extract of the seeds are active against gram-positive bacteria. Strong doses are effective against gram-negative bacteria. The substance has protein-like properties.
Plai (Zingiber cassumunar Roxb.)
Plai is a rhizome of the ginger family and has been used for centuries as a herbal ingredient in hot compress that are applied to relieve muscle aches and pains. It is also a natural emollient and has been used by generations of Thai women to tone and soften their skin.
Rosemary (Rosemarinus ofici nails)
It is used primarily as a hair lotion. It is effective in stimulating the hair-bulbs to renewed its activity. It also prevents premature baldness.
Turmeric (Curcuma Domestica)
It is used in herbal medicine to treat stomach discomfort and in traditional cosmetics for skin care. When crushed, the oil is an efficient natural moisturiser and it also has antiseptic properties.
Virgin Coconut Oil (Cocusnuciferas)
Rich in Vitamin E. Processed without the use of heat, preserving all the good cholesterol, enzymes and other inert substances that help in maintaining the integrity of the skin.
